The story - Getting lost
As I look around I realize that I was on my own. Everyone I knew was gone, surrounded with unusual faces. As I panic, I feel my heart fall, while im dashing about hopeing to catch a glimpse of someone I know. Pushing my way past the crowds of people, I feel my self getting more and more lost. As I catch a glimpse of them I feel a burst of happiness as I just catch a a part of their body passing round the corner.

Cave paintings are a form of storytelling made up from just images. The images used are often in silhouettes and often portrays a lot of violence; cave paintings refer to those of the prehistoric origin. I think it was in paintings rather then anything else is because the people back then could not comunicate to one another through speech; this form of art allows people to understand and comunicate through silhouettes because its easier to understand and tell their storys to one another. The earliest case of this dates back 40,000 years ago in Europe and the storys produced are sometimes just storys. Meaning that a lot of the painting found are not real life events, they are storys. "Evidence suggests that they were not merely decorations of living areas, since the caves in which they have been found do not have signs of ongoing habitation. They are also often located in areas of caves that are not easily accessible. Some theories hold that cave paintings may have been a way of communicating with others, while other theories ascribe a religious or ceremonial purpose to them."
Another form of story telling is oral. This is where people simply speak their story to a group of people and often the story teller will make it up on the spot and bring their own unique personality and character to the story. The stereotypical oral story is where people are sat round a camp fire and one person is telling a horror story to make the other people feel scared. People listening also experience immediacy of a creative process taking place in their presence and they experience the empowerment of being part of that creative process. "Its is likely that oral storytelling has been around as long as human language. Storytelling fulfils the need for human beings to cast their experiences in a narrative form."
The next form of story telling is theatre. This is where many people get involved and come together to produce a play to perform a story to an audience. This type of story telling usually take a lot of time to prepare it to tell to others, unlike the previous form where you make it up as you go. Many people will pay to come and watch the play; this is because people are made to feel as if they are in they story by the actors getting them involved. This often used to appeal to the younger group of people, but they have been developed a lot more now and it have been made to appeal to everyone. They have done this by having a more emotional or detailed story. To appeal to a different age group they will often change the way they reenact the story by, song, music, dance and speech. This form of story telling emerged sometime during the 6th century BCE, to an audience of 10,000 - 20,000 people.
Another form of storytelling is written storys. Written storys can come in a few forms like books or a written page similar to my story that will be displayed on the blog. Written storys are probably the most common and popular form of story telling. Its probably the most popular because the person reading can read at their own speed and come back to it when ever they decide to, rather then having the speed of the story set like in other forms of story telling. Also people enjoy creating their own idea of what the world and people look like through the description of the story. Written storys simply consists of of an author writing a story wether it be fiction or non-fiction to appeal to a certain target audience.
Game Genres
Storytelling changes dramatically in the depth and style its told in in different generas of games. It changes a lot because the player is involved in the story in different ways depending on what genera it is and whats events the player chooses to happen. This often allows the player to decide what happens within the game by what they cause to happen, allowing them to have more freedom with the story.
However some genres like platform, have got a more linear storyline making the person playing follow one straight path with no option to change the story. An example of a game like this is 'New Super Mario Bros', this game allows you to choose what level you play on but overall you still follow the path of the story and get the same events occurring resulting in the same ending.
An example of a game that allows you to create your own story is 'Heavy Rain'. This game is about a man who's son get kidnaped and he has to go through many extreme challenges to find clues to hint where the child is. The player has got the decision whether or not to go to places or ask certain questions and complete the challenges set to discover the location of the child. The genera of this game is adventure/mystery, and the idea of the player making their own decision that affect the story is becoming more and more popular, leading to more game like this to be produced. This is because people prefer to have an impact on the story rather then the story just being told in one set path. Also it adds a lot more emotion to the story because the player becomes more attached to certain characters from the decisions they make.
The way the story enhances the gameplay of 'First-person shooter'' type games, is that the player is made feel more connected with the main character of the game; and experience the story as if its happening to them. This is done by the player being made to look through the characters eyes. Another genera that is similar to this is third-person, the only difference is that the player does not feel as connected to the character because they are looking over their shoulder.
Emotional Themes
While the writer is developing the story, he needs to get an emotion across to the reader, this is because it will make the reader want to read on and feel a connection with a character to enjoy the story more. This also allows people to want to read on if an event involving their character happens because they want to find out what happens.
Games tend to give off a lot of emotion like; happiness, fear, anger and hope very well. Its not necessarily the story that is the main focus of the emotion of a game. However, the story is there to add an addition effect and tell the player whats going on. Usually the emotion of a game is done by the atmosphere and sound. An example of a game that does not have a story is 'Slender', this game uses sound and the atmosphere well to make the player feel scared. Its done by the player being forced to go through a dark forest with only a flash light to guide them through. Their goal is to find all of the 8 pages, however when they start off there is no sound apart from them moving about, once you start to collect the pages sound effects starts to play like thumping, the sound effects get more and more intense the more you get. During the time that all this is happening, the music gives you the feeling that something is following you. This shows that its not always the story is not always the main focus of a game.
Interactive Story
An interactive story is where the person playing issues commands to complete actions in the game, this allows the player to feel more part of the game because their action determines the outcome of the game allowing them to have more impact in the game. These storys tend to have a lot of description to allow the player to understand whats going on and this will allow more emotion to happen because the player will become more engrossed into the game. However these games tend to have a lot of options for the player to chose making them feel like they are the main character and its up to them to make the decisions and explore the area around them.

Do you remember when the earth's surface was in one piece? I don't. I have read about how beautiful the world used to look. How peaceful everything was. The world in one piece, flourished with wild life. Thats everything i dream about. Unlike now, the world has been destroyed. Its in pieces. Separated into factions with constant conflict between one another over the limited resources left on the planet. All I see now is people suffering. Nobody cares about us poor people . We are stick in the middle between all of the factions, nobody want us. From time to time the factions will raid out village, kill our people and leave us with nothing. We are stuck, unable to defend our self. Until now.
This all started many years ago. The scientist discovered a slight change in the magnetic shift within in the planet. They could foresee what was going to happen. They did not tell anyone. They started to build several domes around parts of the land to trap the air within it. People started to get suspicious, but nobody would tell them. Chaos swept across the world, and wars broke out. Then suddenly a huge magnetic shift within the planet caused it to break to pieces. Chunks of the land was launched into the sky. Some of the pieces got caught in the orbit of the planet and the rest is left to roam in space. The domes that where built, allowed people to be able to sustain life there. The people eventually adapted to the surrounding and are now able to live there without the air domes. But unfortunately there is limited resources.
Andy was born when the new world first happened. Constant wars and conflict between the faction keep occurring causing people to fear for their future. His mother was a nurse and cared for the people have suffered from war injuries and his father was fighting during the war and died in an accident. During his upbringing he did not speak to many children because he was shy, but he wanted to follow in his mothers footsteps and care for other people. As he grew older he became lazy and stayed alone often because he struggled to make friends. He struggled to make friend because people where intimidated by how he looks, this led to him feeling depressed through his teenage years and gave up the idea of following in his mothers footsteps. He thought his childhood was bad but then heard of someone named Eric.
My name is Eric. When I was a born, I was abandoned, left alone, unloved. On a rock floating between the islands. When someone took me in. I was moved into an orphanage with many other children. However I was different from all of the other children. The employees who worked their thought that I could be part of the prophecy. The prophecy stated that the world will be destroyed, left in pieces. A baby boy would be alone, floating between several powerful factions. When the child grows older he will have the power to determine the worlds fate. Whispers spread across the lands that the prophecy is true. People started to worry, so they decided to put Eric on his own, away from everyone else to stop him causing this destruction. During my childhood the other children would be laughing and pointing at me like he was some kind of monster. Eric would be on his own, separated from mankind. I was unsure why I had to be separated from everyone else, but I did not mind because i enjoyed reading on my own. As I grew older they started to question whether they where right about the prophecy, so they allowed me to be with everyone else and go around the city. However what they did not tell him is that people will be keeping a close eye on him.
Once I was released, I was given a house to make me feel more comfortable and to try and make me forget my past. However, throughout my childhood, he was made to feel different and unwanted, this led to anger building up inside me. While in his house I questioned who and where my parents are this led to him remembering my past and caused the anger to be unleashed. I remembered reading a book on different types of theories, one of them was about it being able to give your self unusual powers, but the book stated that people are unsure on the chemicals required to achieve this. I decided that I wanted to try and accomplish this and unleash the power on the people that have hurt me and made me feel unwanted.
Several months later and many wrong experiments, which tend to end in explosions, you managed to create the long awaited desire of being able to have your own power. As you drank the concoction you dropped to the floor, an excruciating pain shot through your body, causing you to scream and shout. You stumbled around the room looking for something, anything to stop the pain. While stumbling about you smashed the vials on your desk and you could feel your body being tore apart from the inside. Eventually you passed out from the overwhelming pain, but what you did not realize is that your skin started to catch alight. When you regained consciousness you realized that everything around you was on fire, but you could not feel any pain from it. You started chocking on the thick smoke that flooded the air. You knew he had to escape, the whole house was spewing with flames, the roof started to crumble and pieces of the wall started to fall around me. You knew that if you did not try to escape, you will be crushed alive. As you staggered towards the exit of your house, you could barely see through the overwhelming smoke, you reached out in front of yourself, trying to pull the smoke apart. Emerging within the smoke the out line of the door slowly became more and more visible, but it was completely covered in flames. You knew that this was his only chance to escape. You ran towards the door, reaching out in front of you, eyes closed, fear rushing through your body. With the realization that you might not make it out alive. You smashed his way through the door, stumbling over the rubble, as you tripped over and landed just out side of his house. As you turned around he could see your house being consumed by the flames, as it collapses in front of you, the smoke gushing out passing over your head, causing you to choke. Nothing remains of your house, its just rubble everywhere. You look down at your body, checking to see if your okay. Knowing that your going to be badly hurt. Shocked, you realizes that not even a scratch or burn is on your body, you are confused. Wondering how you could not have suffered from any injuries. Brushing the dust and rubble off of your clothes a man comes running out, pushing past the crowds of people. (DIALOGUE TREE)

Feedback-
The story has started good and has got me interested into what happens next.
It started off as you being in a lab room filled with vials and chemicals, so I figured out he was a scientist.
I had a look the object and locations and got interested why anger came into him when he saw the kids socializing. I also would like to know what was on the lab coat at the end to make it kill you. Pretty funny you can eat it.
It’s a story I would like to come back and see more and find out what happens later on.
