3D Computer Modelling
Cinema 4D techniques
Technique 1: Creating basic objects, reflections, and lighting.

The first thing that I did was create three different objects, I did this by selecting the shape tool on the top. After I then made three different materials, selected the colour, then dragged it over the shapes. This then applied the colour to the shapes

What I did next was similar to the first step that I took, I created a plain, then just applied another texture to the plain to make it checkered and increased the size of it to fit the screen.
This screenshot might not look much different, but I added a light source to it and moved the angle slightly. You cannot see it very much here, but shadows have been applied. After I then added reflection to all of the materials, I done this by double clicking the material/s then selecting reflection, then setting it to 20%.
This next screenshot is the rendered image. The colours are more smooth, and you can now see how the lighting is affecting the shapes.

What I did next was save the file as a psd file, then opened it in photoshop. This then allowed me to change the colours and add multiple effects to the image.
Overal doing this first tutorial, I did not struggle on much while creating this. The only thing that I got a bit confused by is I accidentally selected something on the the tool bar and I was unable to resize anything, after a while I figured out what I did wrong I solved the problem. I found this tutorial very easy to do.
Advantages of using this technique:
- Having good lighting will allow the environment to look amazing, the lighting will create very realistic shadows
- Using this well combined with reflections can create very realistic environments
Disadvantages of using this technique
- Setting up good lighting can take a while to get it to look right
Technique 2: iPod/iPhone
For this tutorial we made an ipod. The first step to creating this was to create several shapes, a tube, square and a plain. I then resized everything and the smoothed the edges of the square to give the overall look of an ipod.

what I did next took a little longer to do, and I got stuck parts of it. What I did was create several materials then colour them and added reflections. After for two of the materials I had to gather a texture for the ipod, one for the screen and one for the jog wheel. I had several problems with this part because when I put the texture in it would be rotated the wrong way so it would not fit correctly. To fix this I moved it to photoshop and edited it on photoshop. After I created all of the materials I then dragged them onto the ipod to add some colour.

Once I finished adding the textures the tutorial was complete. I then thought I should try to experimenting with things, so I added a floor and created multiple copys of the ipod, I also added a light source to add shadows to the scene.
This is the final design I ended with, I could have made it a lot better by adding more textures and headphones, but I ran out of time. I enjoyed doing this tutorial because I am now starting to get familiar to the programme so I am able to use the interface easier and find things better.
Extended tutorial:
What I did here was I downloaded an image of an iphone, went round the edges using the pen tool, then deleted the image. After I saved the illustrator file as an "illustrator 8" file so it could be opened up in cinema 4D.

What I did next was open the iphone file I made. Once it opened up in cinema 4D I extruded the line to make the object become 3D. Similar to the Ipod I added a new plain for the glass of the phone, then made a new material and imported an image of the phone. Also I created a tube and shrunk it down to be the button.
Finally I added a colour to the back of the phone, but once I did this I ran out of time. If I would of had more time I would have made the colour of the phone better, and also add the speakers and other things.
Advantages of using this technique:
- Its fairly easy to get used to
Disadvantages of using this technique
- Limited to things you can design
Technique 3 : Making earphones.
This is the first part of making earphones. The first thing I did was find an image on the internet, the put it into photoshop and crop it to size. I then opened it in Cinema 4D and started to place outline of circles throughout the image. Once I placed the circle I change the coordinates of the XY axis so that the circle appeared as a line. Then duplicated it and moved it to parts where the image changes in some way.
Once that was done, I then placed something called loft NURBS and placed all of the circles I made into the NURBS. This allowed the earphone to become a 3D object, but I had to rescale it to fit the screen. After I done this I then placed an oil tank, I chose this because it was slightly curved and I thought that it will look best for part of the earphone.
line for the earphone, placed a circle, resized it to match the width of the wire, then I place sweep NURBS and moved the circle into it. This made the wire become 3D.
During the next stage I added more materials to the earphones to make it look better. I used photoshop to make some of the materials. After I realised that the earphone was a bit plane, so I placed a tube and moved it to fill the botom of the earphone to add more detail.
I then duplicated the earpiece so I could have to earphones. I then re drew the wire but differently and added a light source. The final thing that I did was add reflections to the earphones to make it more appealing.
This is how the final outcome ended up. I am very happy with how it turned out, however I could have made it better by adjusting parts better and adding more circles to make the ear piece look better. Overal I did find this part a bit more challenging compared to the other tutorials, but I enjoyed this part the most. If I was to repete this over again I would make the earphones a different colour, and try to add a pattern. Also I would try to add more detail to the environment around it.
Advantages of using this technique
Disadvantages of using this technique.
Technique 4: Making a Perfume Bottle
The first step of making a perfume bottle was to find an image of a bottle of choice. Once that was done I had to open it up with cinema for 4D, similar to how I done the earphones. Once it was opened I used a tool called akima, this tool allowed me to trace around half of the bottle. I only trace around half of the bottle because, this allowed me to make it hollow.
After, I then placed a NURB called lathe and moved the outline into this, and it caused it to become 3D. I then moved one of the line placements from the akima so that a hole is made in the centre.
Next I needed to make the top of the bottle, to do this was similar to making the bottle, but instead of making the outline make a hole, I filled it. I then finished the top.
What I did next was apply some textures to it, make the texture have a transparency to it so it would look more like a bottle. I then applied another texture to the top.
After doing this I was not happy with how the bottle was looking so I changed some of the original line to give the bottle more shape. I was happy with how it is starting to look but it could look a lot better.

Advantages of using this technique
- You can create a verity of shapes
- This is fairly easy to get used to
Disadvantages of using this technique.
- You cant create complex shapes with multiple curves using this
- Using to many circles while building up the shape will cause it to look weird

This is a look at the rendered image. I have applied a light to the scene and added soft shadows to it. I am happy with how the bottles look, but to make it a lot better I could add a scene to the surrounding area to give it more colour.
Advantages of using this technique
Disadvantages of using this technique.
Advantages of using this technique
- You can easily make shapes with a lot of curves unlike the previous techniques
Disadvantages of using this technique.
- You are limited on what you can design
- can be time consuming
Technique 5: Building a ship
The first thing I started with was a cube. Once I placed it I then changed the selection tool, this allowed me to select different sides of the shape.
What I did next was increase the length of the cube. I then selected the structure tool, then I selected extrude inner and reduced the size of the box that appeared. I then changed the tool extrude and this allowed me add additional shapes to the shape I already had. I repeated this process several times until I got this shap
Next I started to add some shape to the thing that I have created by using the same tools, extrude inner then extruding the object. I ended up making this.

I then added a NURB called hyperNURBS and dragged the object into this. This then shaped all of the blocks I had made and added curves to the, to give it more shape.
I was not happy with the overall outcome I ended up with, to make it better I need to add more shapes to the original object that I have made to give it a better look. I also could hand paint the object.
Advantages of using this technique
Disadvantages of using this technique.
Advantages of using this technique
- You can make a huge verity of shapes and objects
- You can paint the object to how you want it to look rather then just apply a texture to all of the shape
Disadvantages of using this technique.
- Using hyperNURBS will cause the object to become smooth, so adding detail will be hard to achieve
Technique 5: Making Sackboy
The first step I did was find an image of sackboy, from the front and the side. I then used a similar technique to the perfume bottle technique, where I used circles to form the shape of the object. I then used the NURBS to give the object shape.
I then repeated this process for each of the other body parts. After doing this I realised that there was an easier way to do this process. I would have used a square and shaped it to create the object.
The next thing I did was make the head using the same technique. If I would have used the other technique I would have created this much faster.
I then added eyes to the face to give it more colour. However I ran out of time so I could not add anymore textres to the sackboy.
Using box modelling.

The first thing that I did to use the other modelling technique was place to planes and shrink it to the size of the image I am going to use. On one plane I put a front view of the character, on the other plane I used a side view. After I then placed a cube, increased the sub division, this allows me to make changes to the shape further on.

Next I deselected "only select visible elements" this means that when I select on side of the square it will affect the opposite side of the shape. I can now start moving certain parts of the shape to fit the body of the character behind.
Using this technique is a lot easier then the process I took before, it saved me a lot of time. The other technique of using circles can work for somethings, but this technique is better for more complicated things, like characters

Technique 6: Making a pokeball
In this tutorial I will be making a pokeball. The first step I did was place a sphere then change the"type" to "Hemisphere". This cut the sphere in half. I then placed a cylinder and moved it to the centre to where I want it to be cut out. Next I placed a boole and moved the objects I have already made into this, but making sure that the cylinder is below the sphere. This cut out an arc.
I then extruded what I had to make it slightly thicker. I then duplicated it, then flipped it. This created the outline of the ball. Next I placed another sphere inside, this is so I can add another material to the inside of the ball.
Next I added a cylinder to made the button on the front, I duplicated this and then shrunk the size of this. Now the pokeball is complete all it needs is some materials.
This is the final outcome of the pokeball, I am really happy with how this turned out. I did not find this too difficult to make and it looks very good.
Technique 7: Making a Diamond

I first placed a cylinder then increased the lines around the cylinder. I then made the shape into a hexagon and shrunk the top of it.
Technique 7: Making a Diamond

I first placed a cylinder then increased the lines around the cylinder. I then made the shape into a hexagon and shrunk the top of it.
Next I moved two of the lines together and dragged it up this is to make the top of the diamond. I then grabbed the bottom point and dragged it down to make a point. Next I moved and shrunk the centre of it to give it more shape. Now I needed to add some textures to it.
This is the final outcome of the diamond. I am happy with how it look, however there are little bit on it that bugs me. The lighting I could not get right, part of it will be brighter then everything else. Also there is a ring that goes around the top part of it and it stands out.
Saving as a PSD and printing.
To save a cinema 4D file as a PSD, you need to go into render settings, then select the save option and change the file type to psd. Then you select the file location, view the image as a rendered image then save it.
This allows you to open up the image in other programmes like photoshop and print them.

Creating an animation, effects and making things.
The reason for making this animation and other models is for an introduction clip for a another unit. However I learned a lot of new tool while going through the development of making it, this is because I developed it using no tutorials. This allowed me to get used to the programme. One thing I did not remember to do is screenshot the process of developing it because it was for another unit, however I can explain how I made it.
Making the sword-
What I did first was make the blade of the sword. To do this I first started off by placing a capsule and reduced the number of segments down. I changed the rotation segmans down to 4 and this started to take shape for the blade. Next I changed the camera view to right, this allowed me to see the side of the shape, I then made the sides editable, then selected the edges. I then cut off the bottom half of the shape. I then reduced the width of the shape to make the blade and then extruded the bottom half to make the blade. After that I was in the shape of the blade but it was not pointy enough. To make it pointy, I made it so I can select the points of the shape, and I started moving them around to make it look better.
What I did next was make the hilt of the word, this was very easy. The first thing that I did was place a plane and shrunk the size of it, I then attached the symmetry tool to it. This would allow me to mirror the shape. Next I used the matrix extrude tool, what this does is extrude the plane and curve it. I changed the settings around until it looked right. I repeated this process for the bottom part of the sword.
The final part is the handle, this was also very simple to create. All I did was change the perspective so it was front on. I then selected the B-spline tool to draw half of the handle, I then placed a circle to represent the size of it. After that was sorted, I applied the Sweep NURBS to the circle and handle outline that I have made. I then just reduced the size and width to make it fit with the rest of the sword, then applied materials to the sword.

Making the crown-
I found this part more difficult the creating the sword, this is because I had to use a lot of tools that I have not used before, however I learned a lot more about the different tool creating this.
What I did first was place two cylinders and reduced the size of one of them. I then applied a Boole to them, this cut out the center of the shape. Next I changed the segments of the cylinder, I then started extruding certain parts of the shape upwards. Next I applied hyperNURBS to it, what this does is round the edges more and make it look more smooth. Once the basic outline of the shape was done, I realised the there was not enough depth to the shape, so what I did was start extruding the side outwards to give it more shape. The process of this was a lot of trial and error until I was happy with the outcome.
Next I needed to add some gems to the top of the crown, I did this by placing the platonic shape, shrinking it down, then moved it into the correct position. One problem doing this was that the shape would come through the other side of the crown, to solve this I used the Boole tool again to cut the other half of the shape.
Finally I added materials to the crown to make it look a lot better. Overall I was not so happy with how this turned out, but I decided to keep it.

Making the effect on the text
This was very simple to do. Once I have designed the text, I went into the mograph section, and applied the polyfx tool to this. What this does is breaks down the text in to smaller particles. To increase how many particles are made from the shape is to increase the segments of the object.
Once thing that I found was that the particles are in a pattern and it did not look right. So what I did to make it look better was to add another effect from the mograph tools, this was a random this changed how all of the particles appear on the screen, giving it a more randome look. Similar to the crown, it was all about trial and error until I was happy with the look of it.
After the text was done, it was time to start editing it. To do this I selected a part that I wanted to animate, I then enable auto keying and started to move things to make the animation. This part was a very long process of moving things until I was happy with the outcome.

This is the final outcome of the animation. I am happy with the outcome, however I think I could have made it a lot better. To improve this I need to add music and sound effects, I will also need to move everything down people can see more of it. During the process of making this I have learnt a lot of new tool and techniques, this will have me a lot with future projects.
How are 3D models used in the industry.
What is a 3D model?
A 3D model is a 3D object created ether by hand, algorithmically or scanned. It can take anywhere between seconds to many hours of work to produce a model. The models produce can be made to look very realistic, and has been used in films, like The Golden Compas and Transformers. However the 3D models on its own will do nothing, it will be a still object. To make it move they will have to animate the model. What I will be researching is how 3D models are used in the industry and look at what sort of programmes they use to produce it.
Gaming.
The first example of how 3D models are used in the industry is for gaming. 3D models are one of the most important parts of developing a game. The models are used to produce almost everything that you can see in a game, from buildings to characters, but they will be completely still until some kind of animation is applied to them. The overall models take a very long time to produce and is very time consuming, they can take 100's of hours to produce a single model of a character. An example of a game that uses 3D models is Gears of War, they have produced many high detailed models of characters and other things making a big team required to complete the game. The programme that they used to produce them are.....
Architecture.

Another way 3D models are used in the industry is for architecture. The reason why models are use for this is because, people are able to get a rough idea of what they can expect of a building or place before they start to produce it. This lets people to see if there is anything wrong with the design before the make it, allowing them to make possible changes to improve the design of it, saving them time and money.
Publishing.
The next way 3D models are used is for publishing. The 3D models are used for images in books, etc. Using the models also allow people to get an image of object that they would not originally be able to get an picture of; like some artist can make models of what the world will look like in the future, or just something mankind has not seen before. Using 3D models in books allows people to get an overall idea of what they could be aiming for.
Geology and Science.
The models can be used to help out a lot in science and geology. Using the models people can recreare different scenarios to help them predict many things that could happen in the future, they can also use it to simulate events. It can be things like earthquakes or flooding to help them understand what damage it can cause. A different example of how the models are used for geology is google maps. They used a lazer mapping device that helps us be able to see the earth.
Film.
In film, 3D models are used very often to assist in the effects of them. The models can be used to interact with people and the environment. They can also look very realistic. An example of a film that uses 3D models a lot is Transformers. The models they use blend in very well with the environment and people, which causes the film to look very realistic and believable.
Models are used often to add characters that are unachievable, or character that are unable to be used in film. This allows them to make them move in ways they want instead of waiting for the thing to move when told.

Advertising and marketing.
Using models for marketing and advertising can help advertisers and marketers depict their products in the ideal state. This allows companies to produce packaging, prototypes of there product and many other things. This can save companies a lot of money in the long run and can also save a lot of time by being able to see errors in the product they are producing.
Medical.
Using models in the medical industry can help save a lot of lives. It can be used to produce models of peoples insides to help they find out how they can fix and locate the cause of problems. The medical industry are now starting to use the 3D models also for use in operations. This is done by producing models in a programme, then using a 3D printer to print it out. This has made a huge impact in the medical industry.
Police.

The models are used very often in the police industry. It can be used to recreate crime scenes, this can be used to help give investigators more information about the scene, notice things they might not be able to see while they where there. I can also be used to inform people about what happened. Another way models are used is for 3D lazer mapping of an area, this is used often to allow police to understand and investigate things like speed collisions.
Rapid prototyping.
Rapid prototyping is where models are produced using programmes like cinema 4D and Blender, then the model is then printed using a 3D printer, people are able to test the product to see any errors in the item.
Aerospace

The way models are used in aerospace is to test the aerodynamics of planes, etc. This is done by using the models in simulations to test how it will work in certain situations.

Final Character:
Designing process:
For the first part of the environment I decided to start working on a desk to include, I am happy with how this turned out. Next I created a plane and imported a floor texture to make it look better. One thing I don't like about this is that it does not match the desk so well, so in the future I think I will need to change it. Next I decided on that I want a carpet in the center of the room, I created this using the hair simulate option and just upped the settings to give it more detail. Similar to the floor, I think I will need to change the colour to make it look more smooth to match the rest of the environment, also I should try to increase the size of it to make it look better. One thing I am still deciding on is what the overall style is going to be, smooth like the desk or more realistic.

After coming back to the environment I decided that I did not like a lot of the things that I have done so far. What I decided to do was scrap what I already done and focus on designing the room again but this time I have settled with a more realistic look. This is what I come up with.
What i did first was start my placing a box, changing the size of it and splitting the edges apart. This is going to be the basic outline for the room. Next I selected the knife tool, and started cutting away at the wall to make a shape for the window. Then I used the inner extrude and extrude to give the windows more shape. I then made a material, enabled luminance, set it to 100% and applied it to the window. What this done was make the windows glow, what I then needed to do was make a light source and cause it to shine through the window. To do this, I placed an infinite light source moved it outside the window and angled it to change the direction of the shadows. However this did not make the light shine through the window. To make it shine through I had to right click the window in the object library and add 'compositing' to it, next I had to deselect cast shadows and receive shadows under tag. This caused the light to shine through the window. One problem that this caused was that the rest of the room was too dark and I was unable to see anything. To solve this I then added an omni light to the room, and turned the intensity down to about 50%, this allowed there to be a slight light difference between the outside and inside to allow the shadows to stand out. Next I started applying textures to the rest of the room, took the door I designed before hand then rendered the image.
This is how it turned out and im very happy with how it look now. I'm glad I started a fresh. Now looking back at this design, it have given me an idea of how I could design the room. What im going to do is place a dinning table in the center of the room, this will have food on it, chairs around it and r my character I will be placing it near one of the chairs.
Using all of the objects in the scene
This is how the finished environment is looking now. All that is missing is the character. The models that are included, I have shown how I made them below. Overall, I like how it looks, but I think I could make it a lot better, some of the textures needs changing to suit the environment a bit better, also some of the design of the furniture could do with improvements.
How I made each object.
Table leg
To make this table leg it was very simple. What I did was first place a square outline then add a loftNURBS to this, next I duplicate the square, resize it and move it up. What this does is fills in the square as I move it up it expands the shape. I repeated this process several times until I was happy with how it looks. After I made the leg I then enabled the rounding tool on each of the squares to dive the leg more shape, finally I added a texture to it.
Overall I am very happy with the design of this, all I need to do now is duplicate this three more times then attach it to the table.
Table top

At first, I placed a cube, then resized it until I was happy with the size of it. Next I started to use inner extrude and extrude, this is to add more depth to the sides of the table. I then looked back at it and though that it needed more curves on it. To add this I used the bevel tool to add more shape. After I realised that the table top was a bit plane, I then decided to use the knife tool to add more segments on the top. After, I split the certain parts apart from the table, this is so I could add another texture to the table and add more depth to this. Finally, I applied some textures to the table, then attached the legs to the table. Overall I think I could make it look a lot better by adding more curves to it, but I am still happy with the design with it.
Door
Door handle
To build this door handle all it consists of some simple extruding. I started off with a cube, I then stretched it and used inner extrude and extrude to build of the base of the handle. Next I used the matrix extrude, what this does is extrude the object but in the shape of an arc, I changed some of the setting to straighten out the end. Then finally I applied a texture to it, and attached it to the door. Overal I am happy with the design of this door, I think It will suite the environment very well.
Chair leg
To make the chair leg I used the same technique as when I made the table leg. I placed an outline of a square the applied the loftNURBS to it, this filled in the square. Next I duplicated the square, resized it and moved it up, I repeated this several times and the leg started to take shape. Next I applied a texture to it, all I now need to do is attach this to the seat of the chair.
Chair
To make this char it was very simple, I started off with a cube, I then resized it and placed the cushion within the cube. Next I extruded out the back of the chair, then extruded up. After I used the knife tool, and made some segments down the along the chair, this is so I can add more detail to it. Next on some of the segments I deleted them, then applied a texture to all of it. Next all I need to do it is add the legs, then it should be done.
Cushion
To make this cushion, it was very simple. The only new thing was using the cloth simulation. First I placed a square and re sized it and increased the segments. Next I placed a sphere the shrunk it down to be inside of the cube. What this will do is when I add a cloth collider tag to this it will shape the cube once I turn it into cloth. Next I added the tags to each object, cloth collider to the sphere then the cloth to the cube. I then went into the cloth settings, went under the dresser tab, selected the edge of the cube, the pressed set seems polys. After I changed the width to 5cm then pressed Dress-o-matic. What this does is apply the cloth to the cube and because of the sphere in the center it allowed it to fall into place.
Bookshelf
Making this was very easy. First I started off by placing another cube, then resizing it. Next I used a combination of inner extrude and extrude to make the opening for the bookshelf. After I used the knife tool to make some extra segments, with these segments I used extrude to pull out the shelfs. Finally I applied a texture to it. Overall I like this bookshelf, but I need to change up the texture because I have used it to much.
Books
Making this book did not take very long to make, however working out how to do it took me a while. The first thing I did was place a cube, round the edges then resized it. Next I moved up some of the lines that was already there to allow more depth to it. After I selected the parts that I wanted to be the paper, right clicked it and selected the split option, what this does is duplicate the selected sides and makes it into a separate object, I then need to delete the duplicated part of the original object. After I applied some textures to it. When I looked back at the books they did not have much detail to them, so to change this I applied a bump to the texture and added sound to it. Finally I duplicated the books and placed them in the the bookcase. I am very happy with how it looks, however I need to change the colour of the books to make the suite with everything else I have made.
Plant pot
The process of making this plant pot is similar to how I made the chair legs and table legs. I used the loftNURBS combined with outline of squares to create a basic shape or the pot. Next at the top of the pot, I made a smaller square then moved it down to create an indent on the plant pot. After I placed a plain then shrunk it down and placed it inside to create the soil. The soil is a key part because I will need to attach the hair to it to make the leaves.
Leaves
This is the most complicated part I have come across since I have started to development of this. The first thing I did was place a BezierNURBS the reshaped it so it looked like a leaf. Next I applied the hair object to it. After I had to make it generate hairs in the shape of the leaf I have created, to do this I went under the generate ta,b clicked on object and selected the leaf. After I then went under guides. What I need to do next is make the hairs start at a certain point, to I selected the link then selected the soil. Finally I hid the original leaf, then changed some of the setting around so that the leafs are the right height, length, width, weight and there was enough of them. I then applied a texture to all of it and attached it to my plant pot.
Character
I have completely change my idea on what the character is going to look like. What I am planning on it being now is a fridge with arms and legs standing near the table.
What I did first was start of with a cube, then increase the size of it. Next I used the box modeling technique to add some shape to the front of the fridge and increase the height. Next I started using some extruding with inner extruding to create a leg and foot. After I moved onto the wire on the back. This was made using the same technique I used to make the wire for the iPod. I used loftNURBS combined with circles. Then I made a plug using the knife tool, and cutting off part of a circle, then adding extra bits onto it untill I was happy. This is what it looks like with all the added parts above. I still need to add detail to the front, add some arms and then some textures.
What I did next was start to work on the front of the fridge. First I selected all of the frond then deleted it, then used the close polygon hole to fill in the game, what this done is make the front smooth so I can extrude things more easily. After I used the knife tool to separate the bottom and top part of the fridge, then extrude the ledge out to make it more clear. Then I started to work on the door, this is very simple, it was a cube re sized , then a hyperNURBS applied to it to round the edges. The front of the fridge was now missing the handles, this is also very simple to create. The first step of this was placing a cylinder and adding many segments, I added 30. Next I placed a deformer called bend, I then made this a child of the handle and upped the strength, what this does is bend the object. The more segments on the shape the moor smooth the bend is. When looking at the bend it didn't look right, to solve this I made the shape editable, then reduced the width of it.
Finally I need to start working on the arms, I struggled a lot with this, because I did not know how to make the hands look like hands and have fingers, so I had to make some changes. What I did first was use the knife tool to create more segments on the side of the fridge, I then used a combination of inner extrude and extrude, until I was happy with how it looks.
This is how the final character design looks, I really like how this looks and from feedback other people like the design as well. All I need to do now is move the character into the environment and make a few changes, the it all should be done.
Final environment
This is how the final design looks. Overall I really like the style I have decided to to create it all in, however there are a few things that I don't like. First the plant texture could do with some changing, I was unable to fix the texture problem on the leaves where it could not display more then one colour. Next I think that I should have made the character interact with the environment a bit more rather then just sitting there.
From feedback people seem to really like the design I have done, they also really like the character, which I am very surprise about.

First I started off by gathering some images of spiderman, the main reason I have chose them is because I only need an outline of a human and this was a good image to use for this. I then placed three plains then applied the different views of the texture to them so I had a basic guideline. Then placed a block in the center to allow me to start the box moddeling.

Next I started to pull out some of the points to start the shape of the shoulders. Once I did that I then angled some of the side to add more shape to the neck. After I deleted the bottom face of the cube then selected the edge of it and extruded it out. I will repeat this multiple times and pull out each point to create the shape of the body. I will need to repeat this process but also using some extruding to get the rest of the shape of the body.
To make the legs it was very simple, I selected the bottom art of the boddy and extruded it down to create the basic length of the leg. Next I used the knife tool to create multiple cuts to add more points for me to add more shape to the leg. After I then started to create the foot. I used the extrude and move points technique to get the shape.

Building a 3D environment and Character
During this task I will have to create an 3D environment with a character in it. The overall idea if this is for it to be used for a children's animation, therefore making the target audience anywhere between age 3 - 7. Just using the target audience I am able to come up a basic idea of what colours and objects I should use.
Planning-
The first thing that I decided on is where it was going to be set. I have chosen to set it inside rather then outside, this is because I feel overall I could make it more appealing for children, also I think that I could design a better environment inside than out. I next decided on what the room was going to be, this was an easy decition to make because of what object could be included. I have chosen a children's room.
The next step I need to do is start creating some object to be included into the scene, and a character. Doing this will allow me to have a choice from a verity of things to include into my scenery.
Environment:
Character:
Environment:
Character:
Final Character:
This is my final character design. The reason why I have made two different views is to allow me to model it easier. Overall I am happy with how this looks, its a completely different design from the other concepts I have come up with,
For the first part of the environment I decided to start working on a desk to include, I am happy with how this turned out.

Door
Similar to how I made the table, I placed a square and then resized it. Next I used inner extrude and moved the door in slightly. After I used the knife to to make some segments on the door. This is so I can add more detail to the door. The segments I made I used inner extrude and extrude on the to make indents on the door. Finally I applied a texture to the door and overall I am happy with the design of it.

make animated gifs like this at MakeAGif
One thing that I really like about this plant is that when I press play for an animation it reacts to the wind and other effects. However there is also one thing that I dont like, that is if I try to add a texture to the hair that is slightly more complicated, it will only pick up on colour. Apart from that really like how ti looks.Character

Modeling a character for a walk cycle.

First I started off by gathering some images of spiderman, the main reason I have chose them is because I only need an outline of a human and this was a good image to use for this. I will need to repeat this process but also using some extruding to get the rest of the shape of the body.
I have now combined extruding with moving points around to get the side shape of the character. I also shrunk down some lines to add more shape to the person. What I will have to do next is turn the camera to the front view the change the size etc to get the body shape right.
After I shaped the lines to get the shape for the body, I then decided to made a cut down the center of it. I did this because I need to reflect the the current finished side of the body to the other side. This will save a massive amount of time. To do this I simply used the knife tool to create another segment down the center of the body, I then selected and deleted the un wanted body parts. Then I placed the symmetry tool then dragged the body into it. I made sure that the body was on 0, 0, 0 coordinates this will align the symmetry and will aid me in the creation of the rest of the body.
To create the arms I used a similar technique to how to made the body, it was a combination of extruding and moving points around to get the shape of the body. I only need to do one are because of the symmetry tool.

Final look of the model
This is the final look at the character for the walk cycle. I am very happy on the overall outcome of the person, but there is one part that I dont like. I had a lot of problems creating the hands, i was unable to design the fingers and getting the proportion right. Apart from that I had a a lot of enjoyment during this process. If I was to re create this character I think I would have to watch several videos on how to make hands to give me a basic guide on how to do this process.
